Pre-registration health care placement locations and allocation

Placement locations

Health care placements for preregistration students are provided by the National Health Service and private, voluntary, independent sector placement providers. These have been developed through strong and effective partnership working to ensure that all learning opportunities in practice are of a suitable high quality and they meet statutory, and university quality assurance standards.

The following placement maps are indicative of existing partnership arrangements. New placement partnerships are developed on an ongoing basis to extend the range and location of placements available, and so a range of other placement locations will also be provided.

Preregistration placement allocation

As placements may be organised in full time blocks or part time experience alongside teaching at the university, the allocation of placements is governed by key principles including parity of student experience, meeting programme specific professional statutory regulatory body requirements and placement quality assurance and partnership contractual arrangements.
